Understanding Mental Health for Moms
Moms can experience various emotional challenges at different stages of their journey. For some, feelings of worry, fear, or panic take over during pregnancy or after childbirth, often referred to as postpartum anxiety. For others, intense sadness, guilt, or a sense of disconnect emerges, commonly known as postpartum depression. While these terms are widely used, it’s important to understand that anxiety and depression during this time are forms of broader mental health conditions—such as generalized anxiety disorder or major depressive disorder—that are triggered by the unique challenges of pregnancy and early motherhood.
Why Therapy for Moms?
Whether you’re experiencing feelings of overwhelm during pregnancy, or struggling to adjust after birth, therapy can be a crucial step toward finding relief. Untreated anxiety or depression can make it harder to enjoy motherhood, affect your relationships, and interfere with your ability to bond with your baby. Therapy offers a safe space to explore these feelings and develop strategies to manage them.
