Welcome! My name is Allison and I would love to hear your story.

My Therapeutic Approach & Interests

I am very passionate about supporting clients grieving the loss of loved ones, and those experiencing sleep issues and reproductive mental health challenges. All can be incredibly lonely, isolating experiences to endure on your own, especially when it seems like everyone around you is living their best life. Having a therapist to talk with who gets it can help.

I am passionate as well about being a sounding board for parents navigating personal and their family’s challenges. Parents tend to give, give, give – we wear a lot of hats! Therapy is a powerful tool for slowing down and practicing self-care, with parents needing to “put on their own oxygen mask first” to be able to support others.

I offer therapy for adults (ages 18+) and bring a significant amount of life experience to our therapeutic relationship. I have experience counseling clients with depression and anxiety disorders and utilize a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), person-centered therapy, and strengths-based therapy (SBT) with all clients.

What is working well in your life? Where are you stuck and need help moving forward? Together we can read between the lines and connect the dots of your thoughts, celebrating your growth every step of the way. I view our therapeutic relationship as a unique space where you can let your guard down, be vulnerable, pause, reflect, and know that you will be met with empathy, encouragement, and compassion. I am doing my job well if you feel heard, cared for, and leave our sessions with hope.

Education, Mental Health Experience, & About Me

My clinical experience includes counseling students and alums at the University of Houston-Downtown and working with children, parents, and young adults at The Conative Group. Prior to choosing a career in mental health counseling I worked in public relations, elementary education, and the travel industry. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. I am a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate supervised by Christen Sistrunk, LPC-S.

I love spending time with my husband, adolescent daughter, and friends, reading, exercising, practicing yoga, hiking, traveling, and volunteering in the Houston community.

Do You Accept Insurance?

I am an out of network provider for insurance. This means that I do not accept insurance. Some insurance companies will reimburse you a percentage of the session fee. This depends on your specific insurance plan and deductible. Please call your insurance company (number on the back of your card) to ask about your out of network mental health benefits.
